These Big Tech companies and others will spend the money on Robots and Self-Service or whatever to save money. Please, yes, pay people $15 an hour so then I can pay for a $10 hamburger that they screw up. Does the Left not realize that when they want to go green or screw with the current system, that it does not help, that the increased pricing flows down to the American citizens?? Businesses will increase pricing so they don’t lose. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE LOSE!! These politicians have lost touch with the American People. The logic has left the left side. Another thing about the minimum wage thing, that all these people who want it, don't think about, is the fact that while, yes, the government may be able to force your employer to bump your rate of pay to 15 dollars an hour, the government can't dictate how many hours you get... so what businesses will do, assuming they don't just fire a bunch of people, is they'll drop your hours, so you'll be making exactly what you were making at the lower pay rate, AND you'll have a lot more free time to think about how much money you're not making.

Does AOC even know how indentured servitude worked? Unless these people are working for seven years and then getting some clothes and maybe if they were lucky land afterwards, and possibly kidnapped( not all indentured servitude was voluntary) this is an awful comparison. Yes $2 an hour isn’t a good wage but that’s why western countries need to start encouraging young people to be more creative and make their own jobs. Also we need to start manufacturing our own goods again. I’d never pay $4000 for a laptop made in China but I’d gladly pay that for a good quality laptop made by my US neighbours, I won’t hold my breath for good Canadian tech ever happening.

Pay-per-piece, or pay-per-project paired with high quality expectations are better for new employees. This teaches them that working fast and putting out a high quality product will get them farther in life than $15 per hour for flipping burgers. Work schedules would necessarily be more flexible at many places to accommodate daily and seasonal fluctuations, which could result in more free time as well as better pay overall.
